Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hears Concerns on Content Theft

On Wednesday, June 15th, TAP met with Roberto Velsco, the Head of the North America Office of Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a private event hosted by Americas Society / Council of the Americas in Miami.

During the event, TAP Chairman informed Mr. Velasco about the looming threat of content piracy in the region, alerting him specifically about the rapid spread of an illicit application that contains over 900 stolen Pay-TV linear channels and numerous VOD catalogs. Mr. Velasco understood the damage that this service causes to the Pay-TV and VOD market, both to local players and international investors, and emphasized Mexico’s commitment to upholding adequate IP protection solutions in line with the country’s commitments through the USMCA.
